Hello,
The very first testing release of Pardus 2009 is ready, supporting English and
Turkish languages. As always, you can fetch the ISO files from Pardus ftp
server;
http://ftp://ftp.pardus.org.tr/pub/pardus/kurulan/2009-Alpha/
For a smooth installation experience, please verify the checksum of the ISO
files after you have downloaded, use quality CD’s and burn the CD in DAO mode
with 16x speed.
2009 Alpha comes with latest stable KDE release, KDE integrated Pardus tools,
improved hardware detection, the new generation EXT4 filesystem, latest
versions of the packages in our repositories such as;
KDE 4.2.3
Linux kernel 2.6.30_rc7
Openoffice office suite 3.1rc6
Firefox Web browser 3.5beta4
Gimp 2.6.6
Xorg 1.6.2pre
Python 2.6.2
GCC 4.3.3
GLIBC 2.9
and many more in a single CD.
Known problems;
- In the installation process, the installation of packages starts slow. This
does not affect the installation though
- Kaptan comes in English when the installation is started in Turkish
- On some Intel video cards graphical installation may not show up. To work
around it you can start the installation in safe graphical mode
We remind you that this is the very first testing release for Pardus 2009.
System stability may be broken. If you want to try the testing releases make
sure to backup important data. As this release is within the fast developement
cycle, there will be lots of package updates towards the stable release.
